The integration of artificial intelligence into smartphones marks a significant advance in mobile communication. Deutsche Telekom recently unveiled its own AI phone at Mobile World Congress 2025, which uses Perplexity's digital assistant.

This smartphone enables users to perform tasks such as ordering a cab, reserving a table or real-time translations using simple voice commands without having to switch between different apps. In addition, functions from Google Cloud AI, ElevenLabs and Picsart are integrated to further improve the user experience. The AI phone is expected to be available in the second half of 2025.

At the same time, Deutsche Telekom is offering selected AI services in the MeinMagenta app with “Magenta AI” so that customers without the new smartphone can also benefit from these innovations. These developments illustrate the trend towards integrating AI directly into mobile devices to simplify everyday tasks and increase user-friendliness. Alongside Perplexity and T-Mobile, OpenAI has been working with former Apple design boss Jony Ive on its own AI device for some time. Smartphones were yesterday - the future belongs to AI devices.
